The Department of Health (DH) helps people to live better for longer. We lead, shape and fund health and care in England, making sure people have the support, care and treatment they need, with the compassion, respect and dignity they deserve.

DH is a ministerial department, supported by 23 agencies and public bodies.

    The government is making mental wellbeing a priority and looking at how to make mental health services as effective as possible.

  2. Giving all children a healthy start in life

    How we are offering free school meals to all pupils in reception year, year 1 and year 2 in state-funded schools in England.

    The government wants health and social care services to work together more efficiently so that people get the right combination of care.
